Motorguide 12/24 question - prop spins faster in 12v mode. - 05/08/12 03:12 PM
FYI - we're troubleshooting a new to us boat wiring situation...
So wiring up a 12/24 motorguide, we have the 12v orange wire connected to the white lead on the trolling motor, and the 24v red wire going to the red lead on the trolling motor.
It's a brute 67.
There's a red toggle switch on the bottom of the trolling motor for the 12/24v selection. The weird part is, the prop spins MUCH faster in 12v mode than in 24v mode. That's not normal right? Prop should spin faster in 24v mode?
So we switched the 24v feed to the white trolling motor wire, and the 12v feed to the red trolling motor wire, and now the toggle switch spins the prop faster in 24v mode.
Maybe that toggle switch was replaced and wires were put on backwards?
Any damage that could be done?
