alumacraft bay invader?? - 06/13/11 02:29 AM

Does anybody have one of these? I cant find hardly any info on them an it looks like they were only made of a few years in the mid 2000's. If anybody has one or has any info on them I would appreceate it.
Me an my dad are looking for an aluminum center console in the 18-20' range. from lookin around craigslist for the last couple of months i havnt seen many of them around. We have looked at some new G3's an like the look of them but I found an 05 alumacraft bay invader and i like it but i dont like the fact that i cant find any info on them.
If any body has anouther type of aluminum cc to suggest im listinen. I have also seen some xpress boats but havnt gone to look at any yet.
Thanks.

Thanks right now we are really looking used as 10-12k is our budget.
How come alumacraft quit making them?
Any idea on the sheet metal thickness?
Or the degree of the V hull?
We want aluminum but we want something that will handle rough water somewhat decent an not beat us to death.
Thanks.

We also plan to fish mainly texas lakes and maybe some in the bay but we dont know much about that now so mainly the lakes. will probably be used mainly catfishin with some black white hybrid fishing as well.

If you are looking for a boat that won't beat you to death, don't look at the alumacraft bay boat or any other aluminum bay boat. They will all beat you and shorten your spine in anything but the smoothest of waters. Their advantages are they are light, cheap to run, shallow running boats. Not saying it won't handle chop, just doesn't do it comfortably. That being said, I own a 16' Alumacraft tunnel hull and wouldn't trade it for anything as it does exactly what I ask of it, run shallow and run cheap!

I understand that it won't be like riding in a big glass bay boat but I'm hoping that the semi v will be better than the 16' flat bottom john boat that we had before.
Our main reasons for aluminum are the cheap, light weight, and sturdyness, I just get too nerves in stump fields with a glass boat, always afraid were goin to poke a hole in it.

But basically for an aluminum cc boat u like urs I take it?

Definitely agree with this!. I went out the last two days on my 12 ft alumacraft with 8hp motor and I feel like I have been run over by a truck. But it WAS cheap.

Mine ain't cheap to run. When they get to the 20' range they drink some gas, but you still don't have to maintain that gel coat or worry about scratching the glass. I run mine in some nasty stuff, but she keeps on going.

Ok well We are still pretty sure that we want to go with aluminum.
But id like to talk about the pros an cons a little with aluminum vs glass CC boats.
At first we were thinkin about a glass boat but the price of new ones vs new aluminums is quite a bit so we started thinkin aluminum.
So first we have the cost factor although lookin at used boats i have seen some pretty decent lookin glass boats in our price range although im not very familiar with the diff brands I would have to do more research to figure out which ones are good an what not.
Then theres the durability that aluminum has over glass as far as takin bumps from rocks and stumps.

What else is better about aluminum and what is better about fiber glass?

Like I said we want a boat that will get somewhat shallow but were not realy planin on fishin alot in the bay right now but who knows maybe oneday. right now were mainly lookin at fishin lakes an just want a boat thats comfortable to fish from has some storage and will take some abuse. and if it could ride somewhat decent it would be nice.
THanks for the replies.
