How would an aluminum center console boat do in saltwater?

It dooe well. It will not rust, but can get some oxidation on it that can be cleaned off.

Corrosion on aluminum comes in many forms with the most common looking like pit or a white powdery buildup. In salt without a I believe it is zinc plate is very bad unless you wash and wash it every time it comes out of the water. Unless it was build for saltwater use with proper grounds etc

I have run aluminum boats in saltwater for over 30 years and only had a problem with one. After I rewired the t-n-t motor, I never had any problme with it again. I have had more problems with fiberglass boats in saltwater than what I have ever had with aluminum.

That is what I like to hear. I am wanting to get a center console and like the aluminum ones better than the fiberglass (on some models) but was wondering if they'd hold up.
What boats have you run Mike?

Also what about galvanized trailers? I though galvanized trailers would corrode badly, but I see a lot of CC bay boats that come with galvanized.

I have an Alumacraft 1652 tunnel hull that has seen a lot of salt water, but gets run through the car wash after every outing for a thorough rinse down inside and out. I also use a galvanized trailer. The boat still looks nearly new. The trailer, while serviceable and in good shape, is showing it's wear and tear. When it comes time for new trailer, I'll upgrade to an aluminum one. If you are offered the option for an aluminum trailer and can afford it, BUY IT! It'll be the last trailer you'll ever buy!

Arkansas Travler, Lowe's, Ochatau, SeaArk, Grizzly (Tracker) and Weldcraft. Weldcraft by far is the finest, most durable built boat that I ever have put an engine on. All welded, ribs on 12" centers, thick/heavy hulls. (expensive). I've had the 14'/ 40"inch bottom, 16'/52"bottom tunnel, 18'/60" bottom, and the grand daddy 20'/70" tunnel. The 20' is 8 feet wide at the gunnels. These are commercial boats, and not rated NMMA pleasure craft, however they are rated for max horsepower.

That SeaArk Big Daddy looks pretty sweet.

Should only oxidize.
