Need help with prop selection or setup for 2006 nitro 929 cdx, boat will not get on plane with full livewells - 11/18/22 02:36 PM

I have a 2006 nitro 929 cdx with a 2019 250 yamaha sho 4 stroke. I currently have a 3 blade 25 pitch yamaha prop no vent holes stainless . takes a little bit to get on plane. front end really gets high. Best i can measure is pad to prop is 3.5". I do have a jacklate. When i fill the livewells up it will not get on plane. Have a mechanic friend who told me this is a known issue and nitro did not fix it. he suggested to go to a 23 pitch 4 blade. I am not concerned with losing top end. I really need to be able to get it on plane quick with full livewells. i normally fill just one half way and it will eventually get up, but one of these days i am going to have some bigger fish to take to weigh in so will need to fill the other livewell. Any help is appreciated. fotgot to metion. wot is 5850 at 70mph tournament load.

or if you recommend a shop that can help with it, i am in Terrell.

I had the same issue with a 2005 901CDX, 200 Merc.

I went to the 23P 4 blade prop and it solved the problem. I do have to change/run a 24P 4 blade in cooler months or I hit the Rev Limiter with the 23P.

Hopefully you can find someone in your local area that will let you run test a couple of different size 4 blade props.

900 series Nitro's are holeshot pigs. Always have been.
One of the few bass hulls that actually get a benefit from trim tabs. You can waste a lot of money on props to find out it's not going to fix it. Or just get you a set of tabs and go fishing.

Yes, those will help these boats, I have put a few of T&H marine cavitation plates on the motor that is a big help also and is cheaper and easier to do.

Vent holes have done wonders for me in the past, so that’s where I’d start. But I also don’t know a single thing about this particular boat hull either…

yep. that boat has always been a booger to get on plane.

if your interested. let's make some horsepower. i can flash the ecu to make 332hp.
