Serial number - 02/09/21 04:41 PM
I have what i believe is a 96 mariner 200 efi and i was looking for the serial number. The plastiic one on the outside is unreadable. Is there anywhere under the cowling where it is stamped ?
no. serial number is typically only on the clamp bracket.
there are block numbers such as FF ,etc. that only designates what block it is.
i'm assuming you don't have a title?? the serial number for said engine would be on the title if you have one.

Many outboards have the serial number stamped on the "freeze plugs" in tiny letters. A game warden helped me get a stolen Mariner back by locating the S/N on a freeze plug. Worth a look. IslandJim

some are stamped on tha port side "block half" flange.. some are on tha "welsh plug" (looks like a freeze plug) on top of tha block.. a '96 should begin with an 0GXXXXXX.. some don't have either for whatever reason???.. if it is a 200 it will have FF stamped on tha block half flange, port side.. a build date will be stamped somewhere on tha block half, port side usually at base of number two cylinder.. kinda behind tha bend in tha timing arm.. 1/8" numbers, m/d/yr.. may be hard ta see but its there.......................
