NEW YAMAHA SHO - 02/10/20 02:34 PM

I bought a 2019 zx225 with 7.5 hrs on it love boat motor etc but checked oil after Saturday fishing trip and was way over full of oil ! Well after further investigating is seems to be gas in the oil I realize this seems to be a common problem with the sho. It's Monday so my dealer is closed but just wanted some idea on what this will intel on fixen? Thanks for any info!

Run the tail off it after 10 hours. Rings need to be seated

How hard have you run it. It will make oil for the first few hours thill ring set and you start running it at wot

I was told at the dealer not to exceed open throttle longer than 5 minutes until 10hrs but I probably have that now. So they told me it was made to run and run it will I'm not much on petting one so i'm hoping this problem will go away. Thanks for the reply

You could also go with the heavier Yamaha oil 10W-30 Mineral Base (conventional)—ideal for all Yamaha outboards and environments instead of the lighter 5W-30 synthetic until rings are seated properly.

My SHO was making oil after the break-in. I ran it WOT every chance I got for a number of trips and finally everything got seated and it seems fine now.

Check with a Yamaha dealer before you do anything. Not following breakin instructions could cost you your warranty.

once it hits the 10 hour mark, run it like you stole it.
