Yamaha 200 hpdi fuel system question - 12/02/19 07:19 PM

If I have an external fuel filter/ water separator , Can I bypass the one under the cowling ?
My engine is a 2000. It is sucking air into the internal fuel filter/ water separator. Boat will run for 100 yards or so , then die.
I have tightened the plastic ring nut as much as I dare.

I have new fuel filter and o ring ordered, but if that doen't fix it , What are my options

thanks

those motors need all the fuel filtration they can get especially coming from the boat side

Amen on the need for filters 👍

My guess is clogged VST (vapor separator filter) or blown/wore out Low Pressure fuel pumps.
If they haven't been changed or rebuilt they way over due.

For more details search for "HPDI" and user name "Rodbolt" on iboats .com and just Google search HPDI VST Filter and HPDI Low Pressure Fuel Pumps.
I've done LPFP once and he VST twice. I replaced the LPFP with new ones from Boats .net and put in a VST filter the first time and just cleaned it the second time.

I need to change all the filters on a VZ225 Yamaha HPDI. It does not look like fun?

check your high pressure filter and you need all fuel filters on that motor

Are all the short hoses past the first fuel filter just regular fuel line hoses ? I assume I should change the out ..?

Received the low pressure pump. , will be changing them out tomorrow, wish me luck.

When you hook up the computer does it show that it's running out of fuel? If you can't answer this question and you like your motor, take it to a shop and quit throwing parts at it. Service Marine at Lake Fork is excellent with HPDI's. This coming from a guy that likes to do most all of his own work himself.

Thanks , Guy,

After taking a hard look at how much I would have to unhook , just to get to the parts in question ,
I have decided to let a pro do it.
