Outboard Mechanic around Marshall/Shreveport

Outboard Mechanic around Marshall/Shreveport - 08/02/19 01:54 PM

I'm new to East Texas and was wanting to see if anyone had any recommendations/warnings regarding outboard mechanics in the area.

Nothing is wrong with the motor that I know of, but it hasn't been ran in 5 years or so.... frown Which I'm sure means that all of my carbs will need rebuilt as well as water pump and spark plugs.

Its a 95 Evinrude 90hp 2 stroke incase anyone was wondering.

My mechanic in Marshall passed away so I go to Gladewater to Shipps. Never had any dealings with the H & W marine side.

Idk who to use, but I’ll tell ya who NOT to use, that’s a guy named Troy Bobbitt, he used to own T&S performance marine out of Atlanta and I think Uncertain Tx! I believe he’s out of business now, but the guy is a crook!

I don’t know what happened to him, he may be working for someone else now or may have moved on. I know he’s apparently screwed a bunch of people over, he lived in a gated community, most likely trying to avoid people from walking up to his door and getting their moneys worth out of his hide. Hopefully you’ll find a good honest mechanic. I’ve heard from another mechanic, cheap isn’t good and good isn’t cheap...

I do want to point out that there is an old Marshall family of good Texan Bobbit’s that still have family there. They are good local folks and not part of the Troy Bobbit story.

Do not confuse the two.

There is a guy that has a shop at Woodlawn who has been there a while. West a block from 59 south side if you are close by.
