Can anyone tell me what the small square fitting is? The plastic tube comes off of the fitting and is capped off. Its on a 2014 Mercury Pro XS, thank you in advance.

That tube and fitting go to the water pickup for your speedo. There should be a small hole above the lower unit bullet that accepts water pressure.
Most people have GPS and all water pressure measuring is usually inaccurate.

So if it is capped off with a plastic cap and not plugged into anything I am OK. You are correct, I use my Lowrance for speed.
