I’m thinking of Sam’s Club (East Penn) 31M batts for my Minn Kota Fortrex 80lb 24V trolling motor.

But I’m also looking for a good AGM batt choice for a cranking/accessories batt and I have an Evinrude ETEC 150 HO.

Odyssey and Full Throttle make the best dual purpose heavy duty sealed AGM batteries on the market. They have very high cranking amps, and will deep cycle 300 to 500 times.

I did go buy 2 Sam’s Club (East Penn) 31M batts for my trolling motor. Now after doing some reading, it seems like that same battery would make a good cranking battery as well.

The Evinrude ETEC 150 manual says Battery, Minimum: 675 CCA (845 MCA) 12V or 800 CCA (1,000 MCA) below 32 degrees F and the specs for this battery is 800 CCA (1,000 MCA). The Sam's Club Duracell 31DTMAGM battery is made by East Penn Mfg. (Deka Intimidator 8A31DTM). Sam's price was $179.82 when I bought these on 5/18/18 and an AGM group 31 battery anywhere else I've seen is well over $200 and some places over $300.

The olds TM batts I had were wet cell Interstate SRM-27 and I have to install new battery trays because the old ones are too short for the group 31 batts. So I haven't actually used them yet, but I have no doubt they will be really good batts at a really good price!

Just my 2cents about batteries.

Deka's are known to be in the middle of the pack of cheaper AGM batteries.
Keep it on some type of tender and they will treat you well.

When it comes to cold cranking amps can you have too many cold cranking amps’s or is that impossible ?

I'm fixing to build my own with 2.3v lithium titanate 11ah cells.
They should live as long as I do. I'm 64 and I'll probably pass it along.

Full discharge 20000 cycles with a 25 year life span. It will cost somewhere over 200 dollars after finding and using all the hardware to tie all the cells together and putting it in a case. But, I should not need to buy another battery............or find out it does not perform as I expect.

Now I’m thinking this for my crank batt unless someone can tell me different.
