How mad would you be?

How mad would you be? - 02/14/18 12:55 AM

I just repowered my boat with a 2018 Honda 200 and the day before it was done they call me and tell me that I'll need new props because it is a left spinning motor. They insist that they ordered the correct motor and Honda made that mistake.

if they ordered the correct one should not be a problem in getting the correct one there is not as many counter rotating props to select from.

Tell Honda they owe you a prop.

???on a new 2018 motor? Dealer or Honda needs to cough up a right rotation lower unit. Its a simple swap. Only a lower unit swapout. Geez that's not rocket science. Sounds like a Dealer/Honda issue, not a Dealer/Customer issue. Either Dealer screwed up & ordered a Counter rotation lower unit OR Honda sent the wrong one. Honestly if I paid for a new motor of any brand & Dealer told me that, I'd tell them pull it all off & id pickup my boat & find another dealer!!! That's ridiculous

Shouldn't matter to you which one screwed up. You paid the dealer to deliver. If Honda sent the wrong one they just call Honda and tell them to send the correct one. If the dealer ordered the wrong one, they pay and order the correct one or they offer you a heck of a deal on that one. Sounds like the dealer screwed up or they would have called and told you that there was a delay and a new motor was coming after they called Honda.

I would be standing on a box at their front door going buyer beware until it was made right.

I did just what I just told you at ITT institute several years ago when they said it was going to take a month to get my tuition money back and I had results in less than 2 hours and they paid me in cash to go away.

Yeah you don't want to accept a counter rotating motor for one reason, your prop choices just got reduced by 90%

Dealers recieve what they order, your dealer did not order correct, get your money back or the right motor, let them know this is your only two option

The dealer showed me all the invoices and Honda made the mistake. Dealer knocked the price down and bought me a stainless prop and Honda is providing one as well. Today was the deadline that I needed my boat since I am leaving for a 3 day fishing trip in the morning. I'm just gonna be different.

well if it makes you fell any better. a friend of mine bought a boat from a guy who won it and it turned out to be counter rotating. been about 6 yrs now and he's still revvin it up the wrong direction.

Have you ran a boat with a single counter rotating engine? That's going to cause the torque to be in the opposite direction.

As long as the dealer replaced the lower unit with a standard rotation unit, I'd be happy.

Tell them to give you the right motor, or money back. If those are refused, take them to court. That's [censored]

Got a buddy running a pretty hot Yamaha with a counter rotating unit on his Bullet. Says it’s faster when you spin it the other way hehehe

Is that the same reason a red car is faster than a white one?

I'm pretty open minded, but THAT makes zero sense.

And after a lifetime of driving right hand rotating props, Not sure my brain could handle driving something that wanted to torque the opposite direction. Might just send me straight to the looney bin.

My boat is heavy enough that the torque is not very noticeable. I'll never get enough of it out of the water to worry about chine walking. wink My boat also takes a 14-15 pitch prop that are readily available in counter rotating models since they are common in offshore boats.
