Battery Issues or ? - 01/19/18 04:35 PM
Have a 2011 Skeeter ZX 200 and it has a 3 bank minn kota on board charger for the three batteries. I keep the on board charger plugged in all time. Went to raise the big motor and nothing. Placed a charger onto the cranking battery and motor tilt/trim would work. I have replaced the two trolling motor batteries but not the cranking battery.
Could the cranking battery be shot and another one purchased? I use Everstart deep cycle batteries but not sure what size cranking amps I should buy.

either that or your charger has a bad bank. I only plug my charger in the day before I plan on using the boat.

Clean all your connections , check the charger to make sure it's working, & fully charge batteries. If problem persist then you've prolly got a bad battery. Plug it in as soon as you get in from a trip. Charge batteries up asap after use. Then you can unplug them AFTER bringing them back to FULL charge.
Do not let them sit in a discharged state. That'll kill a battery quick.
If I'm not going to use mine for an extended period I will plug charger up for a day or 2 every 2 weeks. Always top charge them before a trip & full charge them as soon as you get home.

Can someone tell me what size Ever Start Deep Cycle Cranking Battery my 2011 Skeeter ZX 200 needs? The motor is a 2011 Yamaha VMax HPDI 200 hp.
Thanks

How old is the Cranking Battery? May not be holding a charge under load.

I have changed all batteries except the cranking, I thing it is easily 6-7 years old and not charging now.

Bring battery to a shop and test under load. I don't think your battery is holding up at 6-7 yrs old.
If you battery drops too low, the on-bank charger won't charge it. It needs to be charged up to a full amount with a regular charger (if it's even possible). But 6-7 years is an old battery. It probably has a bad bank or two. Let us know what you found out
