Which boat would you buy? Baymaster or Mako? - 11/28/17 04:36 AM

I am in the market to buy my first boat. I am wanting a bay boat so that I may use in both fresh and salt.

In my area, I have found a 1999 Baymaster 19ft with 1999 90HP Evinrude motor. Seller says it was just cleaned out. Has bimini top, no trolling motor or fish finder, spacious and 8 rod holders. Flooring is in perfect condition. Offer is $5,500.

I also am looking at a 2008 Mako 1801. Seller says he put less than 50 hours on it. No bimini or fish finder or trolling motor. It was in great condition. No cracks or dents or anything. Trailer is a 2008 Kenner. Offer is $8,000. Which would you prefer and why?

What motor is on the Make? That 90 on the Baymaster will seem way underpowered with a few people on board especially if you add a trolling motor and a couple of batteries.

If you didn't know, Mako is really a Kenner.
If it's the liner hull, it's a no brainer, take that. If it's the rolled edge hull, meh...maybe.

Nothing '99 vintage OMC would be a desired motor.
I've never been particularly impressed by baymaster build, and it's almost ten years older.

If those were my only choices, get the kenner/mako.
