Any Penn Reels experts out there?

Any Penn Reels experts out there? - 07/26/10 09:11 PM

I just picked up a Penn 209 for $5 at a garage sale. It had the old box and looks like it has never been used. On the base it is stamped 30-209F. I know that the F means it was meant for freshwater, but what components are different from the saltwater model? I'll be using it for saltwater and of course rinsing and cleaning it after use. Just wondering if there are some interchangeable parts I could buy to make it more corrosion resistant.

If I were you, I would give Penn company a call and ask them.
If old, parts may not be available or limited and I'm sure they can help you. Goodluck

A Penn 209 is a Penn 209. No saltwater or freshwater designation was ever applied to this reel. F means nothing as far as concerns the usage to which you apply your reel. It is perfectly suitable for either with no modifications.

Penn does not conduct retail business, they are wholesale only, dealers, registered repair shops, etc.

One of the best available possibilities for individuals desiring to locate parts for Penn reels is as follows:
