Best Casting Rod In The $200.00 to $230.00 Dollar Range? - 03/29/20 12:12 AM

I just bought a St. Croix Avid X 6'8" MH action and am looking for the best M action rod in the 6'3" to 6'8" length at the $200.00 to $230.00 price point. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Why not consider the Dobyns brand and get 40% off right now? The Champion XP Extreme is normally $340, but at 40% off, you'd have a fine rod.

I really appreciate the tip, but I am looking for something in the 6'3" to 6'8" range and the Champion Extreme Split Grip Series start at 7' length. If they only made a shorter rod!

I have a question for y'all. Do you think that there would be a significant difference in castability/accuracy between a 6'8" MHF and a 7' MHF rod? Any info would be appreciated.

i really doubt i could tell the difference. the only thing that comes to mind is with a T Top, the extra 4" might catch the top when casting in close quarters. don't even ask why i know that.

Update: I bought a 6'8" MHF Dobyns Champion XP and compared it to the St. Croix Avid X in the same length and action. They are at right about the same price point, and the St. Croix feels like a much better rod. The Avid X is made in the USA and the Dobyns is made in China. The St. Croix seems to be a stouter, better blank, and there is more attention to detail in it. Pretty much made up my mind as to what company I will be buying from in the future!
