Trolling Motor Plug Question

Trolling Motor Plug Question - 07/07/16 10:44 PM

I have a Minn Kota Power Drive V2, it has a non-locking plug and I've had enough with disconnects while spot locked. It has been fine for the past few years, but this season I guess it's worn out enough that I lose the connection all the time. Nothing like chasing schooling fish and the trolling motor shutting down....

Is it as simple as buying the locking style plug/receptacle and rewiring the two?

Just make sure the colors on the wires match. It ain't rocket science.

Yes. You can just replace them with both or hardwire it in.

It may be something as simple as spreading out the spades a touch, but I would recommend replacing it with a twist lock plug.

Just be sure that you use a water tight plug/receptacle.
