Bilge Pump - 03/20/22 01:32 AM
Shame on me for not cutting off main power at battery and 4 yr old twins turned on bilge pump. drained battery. Do bilge pumps burn out if no water? assuming live well aerator will be ok, but i'm concerned about the live well pump too. Charging battery and will check, but wanted to see if anyone has experienced this and if its a lost cause.

How long was it running? Bilge pumps are fairly cheap to replace.

I'm not sure how long, but the battery was drained all the way down. I've charged the battery back up and the pump will run. But, the replacement cost is probably worth the peace of mind if i get into some surprise rough waters.

Put the water hose in the hull at the house and see if the pump still throws water.
If I were to bet on this, I would say you are fine.

Thanks for the tip. I'll try that before taking it out this weekend.
