Steering Wheel Replacement - 05/26/21 03:29 PM

Hello everyone. I have a 2004 Triton 186 and I need to replace the steering wheel. I bought an aftermarket wheel but I dont know what adapter to buy. Has anyone done this before? Is there a steering wheel that bolts right to the existing 6 bolt center nut adapter that comes stock with the boat? Any help is appreciated. Thanks!!!

Did your steering wheel come with a 3/4” tapered hub? They usually come with one. Or at least the ones I bought did.

Same here, I would expect the one on there now to be seated on there pretty snug. Last time I removed one I had to purchase a cheap 3 jaw puller from harbor freight and it popped right off.

He might be able to get a wheel that fits the hub already on the steering shaft. I've pulled a hub off the 3/4" keyed tapered shaft as well. The one I pulled was very stubborn. I kept torqueing down on the 3 jaw puller to the point I was getting nervous about the amount of pressure on that system. I was sitting in the driver's seat when it FINALLY let go. I will never do that again! I felt way too close to the action. While nothing exploded, it sure sounded that way. I had to take a composure break after that event. roflmao
