Electronics Home Set Up

Electronics Home Set Up - 09/04/20 01:51 PM

Anyone have advice on how to properly set up power for using electronics at home (for adding waypoints, trails, etc.)
Have a HDS 12 Gen 3 touch and just want to work all my info at home instead of in boat.
Thinking just a basic 12V battery, Lowrance power cord and in line fuse. Will alligator clips work for power connections?

Any thoughts/input appreciated!

your way is the best way to do it, an inverter will cause interference.

gator clips will work fine

I use a little old Radio Shack inverter with a Lowrance power cord, works great but I am not using sonar/transducers and interference hasn't been a problem for charting and GPS.

12v inverters tend to cause interference with graphs in my experience.
used to use a radio shack to power birds at home, always had junk on the screen from the inverter.

I have been using this one for about 10 years with no "interference". Got four units on my desk now with three of them connected to it. That's how I do software updates, check unit functions, and practice with the menus.

Have this one next to it and don't get any "interference".
