Panoptix question - 09/22/19 05:57 PM

Have a new 1242xsv and just now trying to understand it. Not seeing much to do in settings. See fish, often lots of them. Question: When in the forward mode, and see fish, how do you know how far out they are? I can see my hook when I drop it and it looks like it is among the fish, but actually I can't tell it is in-between me and them or on the other side of the fish. How do you get the and idea?

Do you have the grid turned on? Grid is in 5' increments and tells me just where my bait, fish, or structure is. The cone for the forward view is 20 degrees. 0 range is what I call "ground zero" Start by dropping your bait their and move it in front of the transducer and then move it around to see your bait come and go. The farther out (forward) the wider the cone.

Here is a video with the grid turned on. My forward range is set to 30'
