Hook vs Hook2 - 07/29/18 06:45 AM

Is the $100-$150 bigger price tag worth the money on comparable 7" units?

Yes. Better maps, better processor/smoother operation.

Very simple user interface

Also some Hook2 model will give you down scan, left/right and 2d sonar (triple shot) or some models just give you down scan and 2d sonar.

Hook2 for sure. Hook2 HDI models give you down-scan and sonar. HDI models are great for trolling motor install or on the console. Hook2 TS Models are for the console area and feature the longer transducer for down-scan, side-scan and sonar. They also make a Hook2 4xGPS which is sonar only and a plotter for weigh-points and Trails, but the 'x' in the model number indicates no mapping, just the plotter. Hook2 features a faster processor than the original Hook for better GPS tracking of your position.
