TotalScan Transducer on Minn Kota Ultrex...

I just purchased an Ultrex Trolling Motor (not installed yet) and I am looking to add a Lowrance HDS12 upfront with a trolling motor mounted TotalScan Transducer (without 3D Module). Two questions for people using this or have seen this SPECIFIC combo in real world conditions:
1) Which trolling motor mount are you using to clear the built in transducer on the Ultrex?
2) How does the TotalScan transducer perform in shallow water. I want to be able to pick up isolated weed beds and structure in 3 to 15 feet of water ahead of and to the side of my boat using the Side Imaging feature (without 3D module). I am hoping that I can see ahead if I turn the TM right or left to shoot in front of the boat.

No you cannot see ahead by turning it.

The transducer doesnt pick up when moving quickly (like it would when turning). Also, none of the SI transducers are good in really shallow water.

I watched some videos today and now understand the difference between SideScan/DownScan and Sonar. SideScan/DownScan both use a "slice" profile signal while Sonar uses a "cone" profile signal. I remember back 15 years ago before I quit fishing I used a puck transducer on my TM and mounted it at an angle so the cone projected forward and it helped me "see" ahead of the boat in shallow water. I hope to come up with creative ways to use the TotalScan and Ultrex combo with the SpotLock. I am going to go ahead and get the combo because I want to have all of the same features that the Console unit has at the front of the boat as well. I am still curious on which TM mount to get for the Ultrex/TotalScan combo?

If you don’t mind spending the money Transducer shield and saver makes some mounts. I used the factory bracket from my lss1 to make mine, but I’m a tightwad on certain things.

See if this works. I’m not sure what’s going on with these forums now a days, every pic I post is blurry; but yet they are clear as can be on my phone. Doesn’t make any sense to me, it’s almost like they are blurring them on purpose.

In addition to the Transducer Shield and Saver mount, Precision sonar also makes one which works with the Ultrex and looks pretty good. I believe it runs around $100.

There's also the comfortroll ducer dolly from tackle warehouse. Here's a picture from another forum that has the LSS-2 and a sonar puck mounted to it. I have no experience using this setup but have been looking at options up front as well. From what I've read regarding SS imaging at the bow the view would only be blurred when turning sharply.

Wow I just ordered it 30 minutes ago and Randy from Precision Sonar already called me and helped me with my order and also gave me some ideas for mounting my new and current units. They are not playing around, I love it!!!
