1989 Champion 184 gas tank - 01/16/18 12:26 AM

Looking for a new replacement gas tank. My old one is a saddle shape and has starting to crack on top. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

No I haven't Bobby. I will give them both a try. It's looking like I may have to go with a smaller square fuel tank instead of the saddle tank. Thanks for your help.

Have you tried contacting the tank manufacturer? I've got an '88 184 with probably same saddle shaped tank. Mine has the manufacturers sticker still on it:

Inca Molded Products Inc.
6400 Louisiana Ave.
Nashville, TN 37209
(615) 383-6020

No clue if the above is still valid.

I remember seeing a similar post there. If I remember correctly, C&O marine sells old NIB Champion parts but tanks are harder to come by. OldChamp may have given you the best lead otherwise , you may just have to go to a generic shaped tank.

Thanks for the info OldChamp. Mine didn't have a name tag left on it any more. I will give them a call tomorrow and see if they can assist me. I bought my Champion new in 89 and it's been a great boat for me.

C&O marine didn't have any saddle fuel tanks and BBC couldn't help. I will try to contact Inca Inc. tomorrow. It that doesn't work out I will get a smaller fuel tank. I don't fish bass tournaments anymore just chase crappie so I really don't need that much gas anyways.
Bobby thanks again for your help and input!

OldChamp and Bobby FYI-
Inca Molded Products Inc. must have gone out of business. I tried all numbers on their web site and all had been disconnected. I emailed them and got no response either. I will check on a purchasing a smaller tank that I can install instead of the saddle tank.
Thanks again for help your guys,

Bummer.

I did more digging and discovered that Inca Molding was purchased by Seastar Solutions/Teleflex - same outfit that makes SeaStar hydraulic steering snd Teleflex steering etc.
