Recessed Footpedal Champion 186 - 12/31/17 05:19 PM
Can anyone let me know if they have or know if it's possible to put a recessed trolling motor foot pedal into a Champion 186. Its a 1995 model. I don't know how to check to see if there is anything under the floor board that I might cut through during the install.
Thanks

I'm betting that there is. I had an 01 Champion 206. I decided to have one put in and the company that did it cut the wiring going to the bow. It was in a tube running right up the middle of the front deck. So if you do it be careful.

Thank you. I figured there would be something under there.

You will need to gain access through the bow panel and with a flash light look up under the deck. That will tell the tail for you to move forward with the installation or not.

I have a 2000 Champion 191 and I had a recessed section cut in back in March. I didn't do it myself, but they said there was no issue. It worked out well so far.
Champions are made in different ways. Some have such a small bow panel rise that you can't get there to look back, even with a mirror. If yours has a large storage behind the seat, then you can look under it and see some of the way forward. I've seen it to where the recess would set part in the front bow and part into that storage compartment.
