BOAT RAMP GUIDELINES

BOAT RAMP GUIDELINES - 09/14/14 01:31 AM

UNLOADING AND LAUNCHING

A few simple guidelines that will make the time at the boat ramp shorter and more pleasant.

If you are a beginner almost anyone in line behind you would be glad to assist you.

Be courteous; everyone's always in a hurry. Ramp is open 24 hours.

1 Get in line - No one likes a line jumper.

2 During the dark, TURN HEADLIGHTS OFF - they blind everyone - park lights are ok.

3 Get gear and boat ready to launch before getting on the ramp.
If you need additional time wave others around but stay in line.

4 The most experienced driver should position the boat so the novice will only have to
back a short distance and pull straight ahead to park. (see #7)

5 Wait off the bank until your partner is ready to board.

6 If you are solo, unload, park your boat and move your vehicle & trailer off the
ramp as soon as possible.

7 Park Straight!!! Crooked parking wastes parking spaces and
increases the chances of the next guy running over your trailer.

7 Use caution leaving ramp. This can be as dangerous as a Shotgun Start.

LOADING AND LEAVING

If you are a beginner almost anyone in line behind you would be glad to assist you.

1 Drop the driver off at the ramp. If solo or with a novice, beach the boat, otherwise wait
off the bank while others are loading their boats and until your trailer is on the ramp.

2 During the dark LEAVE HEADLIGHTS OFF until you are off the ramp.

3 The experienced driver should position the trailer so the novice can pull straight ahead.

4 After loading, pull as far away from the ramp as possible to reduce congestion.
Do not turn headlights on until you are leaving.

Add your suggestions!

Do not park in the Turn around area for the Ramp

Re: BOAT RAMP GUIDELINES - 09/14/14 01:48 AM

Just keep in mind that some vehicles can not turn their headlights off (Toyota FJ). They burn as running lights but are still bright enough to tick off others at the ramp.

Re: BOAT RAMP GUIDELINES - 09/14/14 02:09 AM

rule 8: If you have a vehicle that you cannot turn the headlights off, bring another vehcle, or cut the wires to the headlights before backing down the boat ramp.

FJ has a module in the drivers side headlight that disables the DRLs. All FJ owners should disable if they use the ramps at night.

If you are in front of me on the ramp, hurry up. If you dont know if it is me behind you, it would be better if you just hurried up anyway

lol and all you guys with your chicken lights all over your decks,,bows, powerpoles, etc. Please dim them when unloading your boat, cause my partner has decided to remove his graph and installed a CB!!!! And sits at the dock looking for lot lizards to fish with lol. Causes congestion around unloading dock!

Re: BOAT RAMP GUIDELINES - 12/03/14 03:44 AM

Lets not forget that when your using a two lane ramp and both sides are in use dont back down in front of someone and then give them a dirty look because they cant get out of your way. "Not even if you drive a skeeter"

Re: BOAT RAMP GUIDELINES - 12/05/14 04:45 PM

Some vehicles will disable the headlights/daytime running lights when the parking brake is set, you can set the parking brake just enough to disable the lights and still launch/pick up you boat.

I totally agree with you, except some of the idiots launching there are good for some serious laughs!!!

Re: BOAT RAMP GUIDELINES - 12/06/14 05:02 PM

First thing I would say, if you drive an FJ get rid of it. They are not cute no matter what your BOYFRIEND tells you. Next if in a tourney with a lot of boats launching and you are solo. If the wind permits just dump it and get a ride to it. Just about everyone out there is willing to give you a lift to your boat. It clears the ramp much quicker.

Re: BOAT RAMP GUIDELINES - 12/08/14 11:58 AM

Since I can't tell people when and where they can fish & must allow them to move right in on top of me,,,,,,,do not tell me how to load & unload my boat.
Public water --- public ramp ......... I'm by myself ...... deal with it.
Then go have a great day of fishing coach flame argue

Re: BOAT RAMP GUIDELINES - 03/08/16 08:39 PM

OMGLoL, some of this is funny but also very true. Wouldn't it be nice if every time someone purchased and/or registered their boat, they received a copy of boat/ramp ethics. Not sure who's the worse, pleasure boaters or move-ins from up North. Oh well, only aggravating during tournaments, no that's lie, it's always aggravating!!! LoL

Re: BOAT RAMP GUIDELINES - 03/08/16 08:43 PM

When I was a newbie back in the day, everything always went really well unless there was a line. That is when I would get in a hurry and forget something or screw up somehow.

Re: BOAT RAMP GUIDELINES - 01/02/18 02:31 PM

On your 99 Chevy Suburban see if it has a push button labeled cargo light if so push it twice fairly quickly and see if that turns your head lights off. I have a 2000 Chevy pickup and that's how I turn off my head lights at ramp.

I my 2004 Chevy truck I had to do something with the brake like tap it 3 times and it would turn them off. I can't remember for the life of me.
