If you want to have 50+ teams have one in March on whatever lake you choose for the next one. August isn't a good date, it's hot, school starts, Dove Season starts the week after and there's already a big tournament on Palestine right after your date.

As always, Thank you so much for your insight and valued recommendation, But we are having it 2 weeks before the other great Charity tournament that has drawn100 or so boats
each tournament for the last 4 years. So we'll have as many boats as we have. Yes it will be hot. and yes school starts but thankfully not on Saturday the 24th. Again thank you so much for your input.

High School Football is on Friday nights and some fishermen have kids. Wounded Warriors tournament pays $5000 to win and $2500 for second with a $20 cheaper entry fee in comparison to this tournament. You will be lucky to have 40 boats in August. Hope I'm wrong.. good luck.

I have done both tournaments and will continue to try to do both. The St Paul tournament is well run and for a good cause, it is definitely worth participating in and fits into just as many schedules as it conflicts with. I would not hesitate to make the effort to participate in this tournament. Tournaments take place in the heat, and through out the fall (football and hunting season), all the time. This is actually my favorite time of year to fish Palestine as well, so I am looking forward to it being at Palestine this year.

Well Fast Lane, I hope you're wrong as well, but never the less even with your continued negative input and posts that you and only you have done about this tournament since day 1.
We continue to have very successful tournaments and we have been blessed to have given over $130,000 to the St Paul Children's Foundation and the KIDs. We do this tournament for Gods glory and to help the kids.
Like Trump said to the problem Congress people, if they hate this country so much then they can leave, I say the same to you, You are welcome to fish this tournament,
but if you dont like the TIME, THE DATE, THE PLACE, THE PRICE, THE PAYOUT, THE CHARITY then DON'T fish it.

Re: 10TH ANNUAL ST PAUL CHILDRENS FOUNDATION TOURNAMENT - 07/19/19 01:53 AM

I got second in your tournament in 2017. You called the top 5 to the side and asked our opinion. You wanted to know how to get more participation in this tournament. Every person standing there told you to have it in March and you proceeded to tell us all that you wanted to have the 2018 tournament in September at Lake tyler. Every one of us said that was a bad idea because its a transition month, hunting season, kids playing football, hot and so on. After everyone of us told you the same thing you had it in September anyway and couldn't understand why you didn't have more teams.... Not being negative that's just a fact. Don't waste peoples time asking for their opinion and then complain to everyone when they are right. We went to the marina to sign up at last years tournament @ the time specified and the person wasn't even there, then had to drive all the way across town to the other location specified to sign up. You were complaining then and saying you better have 80 teams and didn't even have anybody at one of the sign up locations.

I put on tournaments for years and still have the results and participation numbers saved. You would have more people in March. People drag some boats out to fish during the spawn that you won't even see these people rest of the year.

Yup 30 very happy and proud teams that are glad they braved this terrible, horrible, heat to fish for this great cause. My thanks and St paul kids thanks to each and every one of these people that fished
this tournament. i will have the stats for all those that fished in a day or so. And for all of you that did fish y'all raised over $12,000 cash for these kids. That is why we do this. all of you really stepped up
and gave from the heart, my prayer is that GOD will bless all of you more then your wildest dreams. The rest of y'all that didn't or were not able to fish this event, I'm truly sorry but y'all missed out.
IF we decide to do this again next year hopefully y'all will be able to make it then. I learned it's not how many boats we get, it's what God does with what we have.
Again thank you all that participated in making this GREAT. John
