Nice! I bet that cat put up a great fight!

Imageshack is not very user friendly at least for this user, when its comes to looking at images in a larger view.

Artan, looks like you did good. I'm a shqipe btw. I've been up there about 6 or 7 times in the past three weeks with my pops, but last time was about a week and a half ago. Everytime we were there though we did really good. Probably gonna go back pretty soon.

Re: texoma this mornin - 05/22/07 04:20 AM

I am going to have to go check it out asap. nice fish btw. I wonder how crowded it gets on the weekends up there?

Re: texoma this mornin - 05/22/07 10:31 AM

Bad news Scott, the summer weekend crowds start this weekend. But, the lake is big enough that you can always find a place to fish.

Re: texoma this mornin - 05/22/07 02:12 PM

its not so bad on the texas side. and no one really fishs as close to the dam as i do. i never really have a problem. i might might be able to go up there saturday morning. make sure you bring clousers. grey and char. you will lose alot

Re: texoma this mornin - 05/22/07 02:28 PM

Whoa that is quite incredible fish!! I know that you didn't just strip him in at once! smile

Congrats on that conquest!

Re: texoma this mornin - 05/22/07 05:54 PM

Below Denison Dam is not Texoma just to let you know in case you do not. A Texoma license does not work.

Re: texoma this mornin - 05/22/07 06:23 PM

Artan, we definitely should go together sometime.

Re: texoma this mornin - 05/22/07 07:58 PM

i know that. just dont step to far into the water while your fishing, but i said texoma because not everyone knows denison dam

I tie my own clousers so no problem having plenty on hand. From what I read @ TPWD you can fish on the Texas side below the dam to some creek so long as you stay on the texas bank

Re: texoma this mornin - 05/23/07 03:47 PM

Yep, keep your feet out of the water and stay upstream from the creek inlet, big Okie brother may be watching.

Re: texoma this mornin - 05/27/07 09:12 PM

So I went out to the dam this morning and caught 3 whites and 3 10-12" stripers before they opened the flood gates @ 11:00. After the gates were opened I only got one hit. The wind was blowing very hard and made casting fun. I caught my cheek on my backcast and it was not fun pulling the clouser from my face smile SO from that point I was forced to practice my backwards casting.
Nice meeting you Arten, I prolly won't go tomorrow but maybe next weekend if not during the week. I really want to go hit up some of those smallies on texoma as well.

Re: texoma this mornin - 05/28/07 02:36 AM

nice to meet you too scott. i skunked out. just one hit. i wish i woulda woke up early enough. but i was sick this morning. it was a mess out there today. big wind. low water level. lots of orientals trying to come right inbetween us. i got a headache and went home

Re: texoma this mornin - 05/28/07 05:57 PM

so now we has racist fishermen here.....
Artan...WTF.....im asian..ya i fly fish.....ya i go to the spill way.... why do you have to say racist comments.. i dont say anything about you. Last i saw of your picture, you dont look white. Why cant you say..there are just rude fishermen at the spill way.... i seen black , white , mexican and asian... etc that have no sense on a fishing zone around people..i am pretty offended. Heck a lot of guys cut me off to down there. I will say this Artan, say thing to most of them oriental guys down there will and i bet some of them will put a bullet in your a**.. i am not like that..but i know how most of those guys are..they dont play nice.. ...keep your mouth shut to them if u want some advice.

5wt, I don't think I read that the same way you did.
You should have just let that pass. Your resposesays a lot more about you, than his said.
Remember, that the fish has no idea who is on the other side of that pole. Fish are smart that way. People should be as well.
Peace out.
\ cheers

it was not ment to affend you 5wt. i should have said fisherman your right. I have nothing against orientals. i dont have anything against any race/religeon. Sorry if i affended you. i hope it did not ruin your day

Hey Artan, did you go back today ?

Re: texoma this mornin - 05/28/07 08:49 PM

i just went to the store and i could not stop thinking about this thread. i read my post over 20 times. and its not even racist. 5wt your the one who brought racist into this thread. i just said oriental. because it was oriental guys that tried to get between us. if it was a black man i would have said black man. maybe i "stereo typed" a little. but in no way is that racist. i think you over reacted, and owe me an apology for that accusation of me being racist.

scott- good thing you did not drive all the way out here. they released water from the flood gates. water was up to the steps. fishing was bad. i saw some black mullet running on the oklahoma side. but i didnt even get a bite. i stayed for an hour. went to have breakfast with a friend of mine that met me up there. and i went home

Re: texoma this mornin - 05/28/07 09:00 PM

Don't let it get to you Artan, I'm asian and it bugs me sometimes too whenever other fisherman (even oriental ones) crowd me. I just started fly fishing last year and it actually might benefit others to stay away from me lol.

Re: texoma this mornin - 05/28/07 09:11 PM

Artan, like I said in my earlier post, just let it pass. 5wt may be just having a bad day. It happens to all of us. Sometimes we say things first, think later.
Fish, and let fish.
cheers

Re: texoma this mornin - 05/29/07 03:00 AM

anyways guys. the fishing in the red river is gonna suck for a week. because the flood gates will be open 24rs. thats what the core of engineers say

Re: texoma this mornin - 05/29/07 04:41 AM

where do most fly fish at the dam. TX side. at the front or at the end of the rocks

Posted By: rrhyne56

Re: texoma this mornin - 05/29/07 11:51 AM

5wt,

I believe that both sides are fished. If you want to wade or fish off of the other shore an Oklahoma license is required.

Be sure to consult TPWD site for exact accurate details on where is Texas and where is not. Can save a ticket.

Re: texoma this mornin - 05/29/07 12:45 PM

As far a fishing sucking you fly fishing guys must be missing the boat. I watched a guy fly fishing yesterday below the dam he was hooking up on almost ever cast with either a small striper, skip jack or black mullet (but I do not believe them to be black mullet because Both Oklahom and Texas have skip jack records for Texoma and the River no black mullet record they look alike to me), or sand bass. I mean the guy on fire. I will not give away his location becasue he was the only one I have seen fly fishing were he was. Just wanted to let you know do not let the flood gates scare you off.

Re: texoma this mornin - 05/29/07 12:58 PM

Its ok Tim you can give up his location!!! Was he at least on dry land or wading?

Re: texoma this mornin - 05/29/07 02:11 PM

i see a minnow bucket in that picture, is this where you keep your clousers? oh, and about the crowded conditions, i tend to fish away from the crowd because i do not go fishing because i am lonely, but a lot of people seem to. life would be a lot better if there were fewer lonely fishermen and drivers!
Posted By: Art@n

Re: texoma this mornin - 05/29/07 03:12 PM

cabsav. i did not have any minnows. i caught the catfish on shad gizzards. and the stripers on clousers.

hope this helps:

Yep from that picture you have missed the area the guy was killing them. Just move a little closer to the flood gates on the oklahoma side.

Re: texoma this mornin - 05/30/07 03:07 AM

Re: texoma this mornin - 05/30/07 05:46 PM

Man what a great picture and lay out of where to fish! thx.

Re: texoma this mornin - 06/11/07 04:02 AM

Is it still bad? I was thinking about headind out for a few stripers this weekend. Also want to get a gar and a carpsucker. Maybe I'll go to ray roberts in the kayak instead.

Re: texoma this mornin - 06/11/07 04:07 AM

Oh has anyone gone down the red river tubing or in a kayak? Are there smallmouth in there? I saw some dead carp on the bank, I know there are plenty of suckers and I caught a longnose gar but I really want to get a smallie on the fly.
Posted By: Art@n

Re: texoma this mornin - 06/11/07 04:14 AM

just go to the lake side and fish the rocks on the dam. there are smallies there.
Posted By: SomethingSmellsFishy

Re: texoma this mornin - 06/11/07 04:16 AM

someone told me that last time I was there. I was hoping to get a smallie, striper, river carpsucker, a blue sucker, carp and a spotted gar in the same trip. Whats a good pattern for smallmouth?

Re: texoma this mornin - 06/11/07 06:40 AM
