Well that line ^^^ never worked but fair warning is never a bad thing. Ain't slung line in over two decades, if memory serves me, but had some spare change and picked up a Martin 4-6 weight rod/reel combo, some 6# line and a box of assorted flies just for the heck of it, $35 in total so money well spent imho.

My first fly rig some 45yr's ago was what ever mom could afford to help me out fish my older brother and it caught fish left and right. Funny story I seldom ever get to share is from circa 1975 after a good rain and before the city fixed our drainage. We had whitewater rushing down the street with white cap's and all, I kid you not. While all the other kid's were playing in the water I was practice casting certain that a fat Brown Trout would reward my effort.

I had mentioned earlier about the fly line parting the morning mist on the water. Times like those are unforgettable, stick to you like a booger they do. When spending time with my father and brother at the deer lease they know that cold sausage and egg's will only get colder as I tell them how my line fell upon the water like butter on hot toast. Then I get asked.. "where are all these fish you brag about catching" and must remind them that I am a distant cousin of Jimmy Houston, a quick kiss and let them go.

Welcome back to fishing happiness, neat loops and tight lines.

Thanks for the welcome.

Now I just gotta wait until my line and flies are delivered as I picked up everything off eBay. Since I work in the hunting/fishing department of an Academy store here in west Houston I have easy access to a lot gear. On another positive note I learned from a customer yesterday that the new county park and lake that was put in 2yrs and is just 5mins from my home has been stocked with Bass, Bluegill and Catfish, that makes two county parks within just five minutes of my house.

Quick question: Can someone suggest a good line to leader knot? I don't wanna use the one I used for so long that was so horrible (strong but horrible).

Thanks in advance,
Gregg

Most modern fly lines have welded loops which greatly simplify the leader to line junction. If you tie a perfection loop in the butt of your leader, all you have to do is insert one loop through the other and pass the tippet and through to make them "shake hands" and you have a very strong and simple connection.

If your fly line doesn't have a welded loop, you can either make one, or use a nail knot tool to easily make a quick and strong connection between the two.
