Port Aransas Rockport Fishing Report 8/17

Fish were biting this weekend in Port Aransas Rockport area. I took my son and his girlfriend, who had never caught a fish in her life. She brought in 10 fish that day. We caught a 4 person limit of reds, miscounted and let the last one back in. Oh well, he'll live to fight another day. All caught on live shrimp (except 1); tracked them using livescope. I'm working on the video and will have it up this week.

Any suggestions on where to find fish like that this coming weekend?

I's say the jetties is a good place to look for big reds in October. Do you have Livescope or sidescan? that's what I'd be doing, so jealous that you get to be down there while I go watch Texas whoop on the Sooners.

Yes we have a side scan. Looking specifically for reds along the rocks? Or finding something different on the structure?

I'd side scan along the rocks. They'll be in schools and will show up well. If they stay still (typically not), you can cast into them. Without Livescope you can still anchor and fish that area, since they tend to run back and forth in the same area.
