Trailer bunks

Trailer bunks need replacing and looking for best advice. Thinking about buying composite boards(kind they use on patio flooring) for the boards. Any thoughts?

Did my own here awhile back used treated 2x4 and 2x6, will last you long time. Put good bunk padding on that's thicker, some of that stuff is junk city. Good Luck.

My 96 trailer is starting to go bad. I was thinking composite as well. BP used to sell them, don't know if they still do.

Make them 1/3 the total price of install, 2 of us just did them on our trailers, very easy.
Treated wood
Marine 24 oz carpet
Marine glue & staple
Stainless or galvanized lag bolts
Make boards at home swap them at ramp
Under $100 for 4 boards installed

3M spray contact adhesive and Monel staples. Spray the carpet once and the wood twice.

I replaced mine this year. I bought some treated 2x4 and some outdoor carpet I cut to size. Was an easy job and I am no do it your selfer.

Ditto to the above, did it myself. Very easy. Then just swapped the boards out while at the ramp, 5 minutes. Later I cut the old boards and put them in the trash.

I just replaced mine. Bought 2"x6"x10' treated wood. Put new carpet on and took to the ramp. Took the old ones out and replaced with the new. Did it by myself under 30 minutes for both. Very easy.

use what they have for 40 years, treated lumber and be done with it, chit will usually last 10-15 easily.

It is a simple job as others have said. I bought screws and the wood from Home depot and treated it myself. got the bunk carpet from West Marine. After treated boards were dry, applied glue, carpet and then stapled the carpet on the back side. Went to lake, launched boat. Banked it and replaced the boards. Took 15-20 minutes total to put the new boards on and then I fished.

Be careful using treated wood if you have an aluminum hull. The new formulations they use for treated wood has a lot more copper then it used to. It can set up a galvanic reaction and corrode the aluminum away. Google it, its true. Even says so on the Yella Wood website.
