Still some great people around.

Still some great people around. - 02/22/15 02:25 PM

Still in the learning curve i ask n guy at the ramp what bait he was using to catch white bass. He not only gave me info but looked at the mediocre lures i have in my tackle box and gave me brand new lures out of his own box. Last weekend after going 2 days with out a bite i ask a guy at the ramp what i was doing wrong. He took the time to explain to me some tactics and where i will find fish. Both of these guys made it possible for me to enjoy the sport. Just want to say thank you to the people that take the time to educate fellow fishermen.

Good story and experience. Thanks for sharing a positive fishing trip. The older I get the more it is about enjoying other's success that go with me. Sharing your fishing experiences and the baits that have worked so well for you over the years is something more of us should be doing. It absolutely helps new comers to the sport to stick with it long enough to develop techniques of their own. You will be a better person for it and just watching a young person new to the sport soak up all that knowledge makes it a great experience for everyone.

Just remember, when you become the master, do not hesitate to pass along your knowledge to grasshopper.

I think I said the same thing about a year ago, but in case I did not, there was a man on the lake watching me. Pulled up, ask what I was using, then proceeded to give me two brand new white grub lures!
I try to say hi when I see him, he posts on here from time to time, screen name 'Carlots' , has a Ranger and almost always a little dog, 'fishound'....LOL.
There are MANY, MANY good folks on here who will help almost in any way possible.
Over the past year, many have tried to teach this dad gum hard headed old German ancestry, retired DOD USN some things about this new hobby of fishing.
Too many to list, but they will sound in if you ask almost every time.
Good folks here...
Welcome to the forum.... welcome
Think you will be glad you did
If you ever see that little rig of mine on the waters, say hi. LOL, I can at least tell you where they are NOT biting and what they are NOT biting on... roflmao
God Bless

"Most" fishermen are more than willing to help someone out whether they are rookies or seasoned pros. Whatever you give, you get back 10-fold.

I have said it on here and the THF but here it is again. Kids are the future of the outdoors. Take a kid fishing or hunting. Teach them all you can. Make it enjoyable for them so they want to keep going. You older guys like me have a ton of knowledge to pass along. Don't hesitate to help a kid or anyone else. There's plenty of fish and wildlife for everyone to enjoy. When you're headed home there's no need to keep the lure you used or the way you fished it secret. Help your fellow outdoors-man. You will be rewarded in the end.

Great story & great responses. I just love to hear stories about fellow anglers sharing their knowledge. I try to help anyone who ask's with any tips i can give them. Unfortunately my tips probably sound a lot like Lee's. lol Welcome to the TFF. Hope you can enjoy this site as much as i do.

Bollie,

If you're in the Dallas area I've always got a open seat in boat. Drop me a PM and we'll get you out on the water.

Wow thanks Streetwalker for the invite but i do not think i will make it that far north. i have an old boat that i keep on modifying to be more suitable for fishing. I have decided to let go of the salt and concentrate more on fresh water this year. with the help of a fellow fisherman as mentioned this was my first attempt at bass and this is the result. She was returned to the water to grow a bit more.
