Re: anybody going out this weekend??? - 12/05/13 05:51 PM

I fished lake decker yesterday and did great, had a blast catching a few slot fish n a few unders. Fishing belton today and so far I'm on to some fish so hopefully they will stick around till this weekend but we shall see. With all my under armor and military gear I'm sweating out here. Us soldiers can handle being out in any weather especially for fishing. So for the ones who said I have no common sense, can talk all they want I think they are just weak and can't handle the weather. I may be wrong maybe they just don't like cold weather idk but I ain't scared of no ice n cold! Go hard or go home

Freedom is something I don't take lightly. IMO it incindentally means I have the freedom to live where the weather is mild, and where I can pick comfortable fishing days. The fish aren't going anywhere.
Of course, I'm much older than you.

Re: anybody going out this weekend??? - 12/05/13 07:56 PM

Common thread on any posts related to fishing in the Extreme Cold/Rain/Wind is that the 'Old Guys' seem to respect the Conditions and believe there will be better days to fish. The 'Young Guys' appear to have a point to prove and the conditions don't appear to hamper them.

My bigger concerns as I got older was the potential for accidents and even death. Seems that many of the problems occur when you have the extreme wind conditions and the fisherman just isn't used to fishing in them. Fishing for the past 20 years on Richland Chambers (3rd largest Inland Lake in the State)and doing it over 250 trips a year has provided me some good info I never knew as a Weekend Fisherman.

When it's too cold, icy, windy and dangerous to drive on the Highway, it's certainly too bad to get on the Lake! smile

Be careful so you don't leave some Kiddos and a Widow wondering what happened.

Good Luck!

Thanks cloud dancer n gone fishin I understand where ur comming from but I have nothing to prove! I have a tournament to fish so the only thing I wanna do is be a tuffman lol. I was blown up last year set on fire and shot at and now my injuries have left me in bad shape. I just want to fish and will do it in any weather anytime because I never know when it will be my last time to fish and fishing is what I live for! God bless yall n merry christmas

Re: anybody going out this weekend??? - 12/06/13 02:34 AM

It's got nothing to do with proving anything or having common sense. It' does have something to do with people catching monster fish during the cold months. Some people can handle cold some can't.

Couldnt have said it better. Some people work outside all day. Just a couple years ago I was one of them. I figure if I can work in it all day I can dang sure go fishing/hunting in it.

Re: anybody going out this weekend??? - 12/06/13 05:50 PM

While it's tempting to talk about my near-death experiences during my former life, I prefer to dwell on how good I have it NOW. IMO when you get to be my age, you'll probably understand.
What happens is that your body ages quicker than your brain. Then, you daydream about all the things that you would like to be doing, except your body just isn't quite up to it.
But, I look at the bright side,...every day.

Roughing it, at the fishing camp:
