How often do you think about fishing?

I have been obsessed with fishing all of my life. If I am not fishing I find myself thinking about it almost all the time. I sometimes wake up in the night with an idea of something to try on the water. If I drive by any body of water I will slow down and look for good spots to try. If I am watching a show or movie and they show water in the background I look for fish jumping. I sometimes sit in my boat in the garage and think about rigging ideas. Is anyone else here as crazy as me?

Driving down the highway and look out in a field (no where near any water) and see a hump with trees and stumps on it and wonder how good it would fish if it had 15' of water on top of it.

This exactly!!! I constantly do this. I also wonder about dropping random stuff in a lake and how it would attract fish. Like that giant school bus or all those concrete culverts!

At my age, I think about going fishing, more than having sex.

Not as much as I used to but still obsessed with it, I usually spend about 15 minutes of everyday just practicing pitching jigs out in front of my shop/man cave every day.
With this economy being what it is I'm not rolling my bug near as much as I'd like too, back in my early days I was on the water at least two or three times a week now I consider it fortunate if the bug gets wet that much in a month.
The land/terrain/water thing me too, where would the bass be?

I was stopped by a cop on the lewisvile toll bridge. I was weaving and my speed was very erratic so he thought I was dui. When I explained to him that I was watching a flock of birds work a giant school of fish he laughed and let me go. He is on this forum.

I'm obsessed finding new soft plastic lure designs. TV is a waste so in the basement workshop I seclude myself thinking, what action would this have in the water and would fish bite it? Seems they usually do. Ahhhh, what a feeling!

I'M OBSESSED, literally find my way to a body of water everyday. Boat or no boat...wife says "she looks in garage....boat gone, he''ll be back by supper..boat in garage, he''ll be back by lunch."

like most of you it has been completely on my mind all the time. However, for me now approaching the age of 80 and not in the very best health I can see an "end of game".

what I don't want to be is a burden on the "boaters" that take me out, so now I am basically quitting.

HOWEVER, AFTER MUCH THOUGHT i AM GOING TO GO BACK TO MY ROOTS, WHICH WILL KEEP MY FEET ON THE GROUND (in this case on the sand) and go surf fishing.

Had a friend years ago invite me to "continue the party" after we shut the bar down which was a common thing and was always a good time. I told him man I am going to go home and load my stuff and drive down to the beach and get some sleep then start fishing at 5am. He remarked " man I was I had something in my life I was that passionate about" I never forgot Jamie Carter saying that to me and it defined me.

I used to take my sons all the time. They both would rather put headphones on and play video games. Now 19 & 22 the youngest trying to learn the saltwater game and I am giving him pointers. The older one, still would rather play games, My point is I wish everyone had something in their life they get up early on their day off, take a day off, spend quality time doing it, or anything but most life just passes them by I swear.

Hell I aint even that mad at them anymore and still enjoy the heck out of it. Boat in the shop but I could easily drive down to Lake Charles tonight and blow at a casino what I spend in a year on the boat, gear, and gas and not get near the enjoyment out of it.

My little girl really likes to go and the time of year I take her and her friends ( white bass fishing ) is about to start and I love sitting back and watching them catch 2 at a time. The looks on their faces. I have pics of the boys doing that too but they forgot it... I never did.

Think about fishing? I've been practicing pitching and flipping all morning. Cat-fishing. Using a pink Zoom fluke. Ultralight rod, KastKing spinning. 8# braid, 6# mono leader. Line clip holding the fluke.

Looked at my phone and saw 16 days of pictures while out fishing.....9 of those days on the boat, 7 days bank fishing...would of been 17, had honey doos which gave me a chance to stop by walmart and pick up some zoom flukes!....going on a cruise and asked wife if I should bring some fishing gear?....she said "If yut too"...gotta love it....another reason to dream more about casting from a cruise ship!

This Daiwa Ballistic MQ LT is a pretty descent reel. Talk about slick. The bail action is smooth. No loud harsh slap when you trip it. The drag is good too. Nice feel on the crank. Spool can be feathered comfortably.


I think I'm going to get another. I think this thing ran me $200(?). Mid tier. The first Daiwa I've owned and I'm impressed. Me and this reel have made friends.

Yes sir...those Ballistic reels are legit!

I need two rolls of braid. One roll, 6#. The other 10#.


After using the light stuff like 8#. You really get a feel for how it'll cast. 8# will sing but the wind catches it. The Stella has 20# on it and it feels like casting with metal cable. I'm going to switch out to 10# on this rig. The 6#, I have to order and it'll go on the Daiwa.
