Squaw Creek Lake - 08/15/22 06:22 PM

When are they going to open Squaw Creek? Does anyone have the inside scope?

Well. Since the CDC dropped its Covid protocols, I’d guess maybe in 3 or 4 more years. roflmao

I would be very surprised if they open it all....but this fall would be nice.

Re: Squaw Creek Lake - 08/16/22 02:30 PM

they are making plenty of money on your electric bill so they had rather keep it for their personal fishing hole an with no fish coming out of it the fish will end up being like a small acreage tank.

They are still talking about opening in October, but there will be changes. I was told that the covered boat dock collapsed and has been removed. There may not be a cleaning station anymore and there may be changes to boating rules.

My question is on Sqauw? Why in the hell does one need a fishing license? This is a private lake, they control when you can enter and make you leave, they control when you can launch and when you can get on the lake.

Why is the Game Warden there since it's a private lake?

Luminant goes by their own company covid protocols:

"The park, owned and operated by Luminant, adheres to our company’s COVID-19 safety protocols."

COVID is just the GUISE to why the park is closed not the actual REASON. October is just the latest target date but it’s been a moving target for over a year now. Hope but don’t hold your breath!

Have you been there? No way to get any type of entrance regardless of the water craft.

They (Luminant) control the only entrance to the lake, They say who comes or go, and when you can launch your boat, and when you can get on the lake.

I am sure the lake is getting fished by Luminant people, they used to have a handful of boats on the lake tied up to the boathouse.

There are activities occurring that indicate they may open in the near future. However, they have not changed the posting on their page.

They have both always been privately owned along with Monticello

Re: Squaw Creek Lake - 08/30/22 11:00 PM

Luminant/Vistra Energy still own Squaw Creek. The lakes at Valley plant, Monticello, North Lake and Fairfield have all been sold.

Re: Squaw Creek Lake - 08/31/22 01:58 PM

Are there still walleye in that lake?

Re: Squaw Creek Lake - 08/31/22 05:56 PM

No walleye or smallmouth are left. The temperature in the summer is too high for northern species. The hybrid Stripers aged out and were not restocked. Plenty of Tilapia.
