Lake Lewisville (Hickory creek) question - 04/20/22 04:28 PM

I kayaked from Pilot knoll park up Hickory creek this week. I noticed on the East side of 2499 bridge there are several traps, with approximately 10 vertical post at each trap location. What are they trapping? Just a curiosity question.

Not 100% sure, but it looks like it may be a vegetation test site. The "trap" is to keep vegetation eating fish like grass carp out to see what grows inside the cage. Then they compare that to vegetation in other areas of the lake.

It was this. I believe it was done in the 90's. Water fluctuations and turtles killed everything .
