Fayette Access

Fayette Access - 10/28/21 07:49 PM

After seeing Vogey's latest report I am thinking about making the long drive out there this Sunday. I see that two parks on the north side are LCRA. I am wondering if they have credit card parking machines like Bastrop does? Also is there any free access or access on the south side of the lake? I have an inflatable kayak so I don't need a ramp, but don't want to walk too far. Also is the fishing good all around the lake or just in some areas? Since I'm paddling I usually don't go more than about half a mile or so from the launch.

Carl...There is no free access. If you are a senior the admission is only $3 at either park. They have envelopes you fill out and put the money in, if you get there b4 the attendants. Then you drop the filled out envelope with the fee in a box with a slot in it. I believe they get there at 8 am but not sure since I always get there b4 they do. Right now the fishing is pretty good in a lot of places, as they are feeding heavily on shad right now.

I just want to add, watch the wind! Fayette is one of the roughest lakes if the wind gets over 10-15 mph. I use the "windfinder:" app on my phone.

I'm not a senior yet, but getting closer. I think the price at Bastrop was 7$ when I went there, so I am guessing $5-$7 at Fayette?

It is $5 to enter Bastrop parks. Seniors are $2.

And there aren't many areas to actually get out of the wind, other than the dam and you have to be right on it. Getting there could be a problem. When it's really windy out there, I like to use a sea anchor and drag a c-rig across the humps in deeper water. It's some work but it's fishing at least.
