Calculating distance on the river. - 08/05/21 04:25 PM
Hey all. What's a good way to calculate how far a trip on the river will be? It's not like Google maps will plot a course along the river and give me a distance. Any other apps or tools for this?

Google earth. You can plot your exact path and pick miles, feet, whatever.

Yes I remember those days of Thomas Guides and folded maps with the black and white bar scales in the legend. We've come too far to revert back to that...
Thanks everyone. I'll try Google earth. Last I checked there was no mobile app though.
The last trip I put in on the Guadalupe at the I35 ramp and went down to the dam on "Lake" Dunlap. Not knowing how far it actually was... mistakes were made. Don't wanna do that again.

On google maps you can measure distance and then just click a bunch of waypoints to follow the curves of the river.
