Guide suggestions/Hot Springs, Arkansas - 05/10/21 12:49 PM
Headed to hot springs in July. Not sure if I want to do a fly fishing guide (I’ve only fly fished once) or a striper guide. It’ll be be and my 8year old son and maybe my father in law. Any suggestions?

David Cochran Striper Guide on Quachita is where I would go. You are a ways away from good fly fishing if you are at Hot Springs. Lake Hamilton sucks and will have more traffic than I35 in July.

Assuming you mean fly fishing for trout: the nearest true great trout fishing(and trophy trout fishing) is the Little Red River directly below Greers Ferry Lake(Heber Springs Ar) but it’s about two hours away from Hot Springs.

Being from the area, I can tell you there are no great fly fishing spots around Hot Springs. There are places you can do it, but definitely not a destination for it. However, you wont be disappointed with Lake Ouachita.
