ceiling rod storage

For those who end up with too many rods and reels, here's a good solution. This set-up will hold 36 or more if you double up or go up to 3" pvc. This was made with 2x4s and 2" thin-wall pvc.

Good idea. I might use that concept in my truck camper shell.

The first 36 were for saltwater rigs. Got the next 18 up for freshwater baitcasting rigs. It's nice to have all your rigs in one place so you can decide what you need for whatever type of trip you are taking. I'm not running a bass boat right now, so can't keep my rods in the boat.

Very nice...I have seen a system to mount them on the inside of your garage door. No way I would do that in case the door gets off track or breaks a spring and twist panels possibly tearing up rods.

I did almost the same thing, only I screwed them right to the joists....

I like that. We have 10’ ceilings so I went this route...

I like that solution. Where did you get those?

I did a bunch of digging for ideas on the web, mostly Pintrest. I found these at Ace Hardware.

Again the downside was the wife could see what I had and questioned the need for that many. I asked her about the 100 boxes of fabric in the sewing room, conversation over!!

If you’re talking about mine, I built them.

I did the ceiling mount but instead of buying and cutting PVC I used cardboard rod tubes from rods I'd ordered and sawed them up.

That's where I got my PVC. Dobyns ships their rods in PVC rather than cardboard.

I’m about a year from having a teenage driver in the house. That garage door mount is a hard pass for me!!

Dobyn's uses cardboard also. I've had two come directly from them in the last few months. Both arrived in white cardboard tubes with the branding printed in spirals on it.

I've had that same system up in my garage for the past 10 years, Works great. Can't remember where I saw it but it wasn't my original idea.

I looked at a pre-made system like that, but didn't like the idea of them going up and down everytime I opened the doors. Any issues?
