Canyon lake ? - 12/13/20 03:58 AM

This morning at the mouth of the river a Ranger w/250 XS was blowing by me at 70 mph and nailed a tree! The lower unit flew up 50 ft in the air and boat hooked hard left. The guy driving jumped up got on the trolling motor like nothing happened and started fishing his way up the bank.I asked if they needed any help and they yelled at me like I was crazy!Never seen anything like that in all my years on the water, people are just plain rude!

That river is a dangerous one. Guy was probably embarrassed; but if you ever see me broke down, I’ll take the help!

The guy probably never read this forum!
It has been mentioned many times about the stumps in that river and how you should respect it.
I ran that river many times over the years, and there were times I thought my lower unit was a stump magnet.
Never sheared off a lower unit, but I have curled a few aluminum prop ears.

I just recently moved up here and already bumped a few!In my younger days I would fly up Possum creek at 90 mph in a potato chip, now days I idle pretty much every where on this river.

That river was once lined with huge ancient cypress trees. There were many floods that came down the guadalupe and it brought huge trees washed down from above, and those trees took out all the tops of those cypress trees downstream as the flood waters washed over them and left those huge stumps.
Choke is dangerous as well with the waters falling from lack of rain over too long a time.

We were talking about both being very treacherous.

What ramp (with a dock) are y’all using? I used 23 the other day and I think it’s about to close. Had to back in too far for my liking. Anyone ever use #10 off cranes mill rd close to the fishing dock?

I only use 23 as it is 3 miles from the house,10 is good with dock and close to the river.

You clearly must not have realized that they were probably fishing for a $100 tournament pot. Those guys are the reason I dont fish weekends any more except when it is stinking hot and I am out chasing bluegills.

Sounds like I need to fish the rivers end of the lake. That must be where the action and entertainment is wink
Down on the other end it's slow and boring. Just a bunch of sail boats being blown around.
