Question for making youtube videos

My sons want to start a youtube fishing channel. It is for a specific idea. Its really not a fishing challenge, but a Texas lake tour. I've got a few questions about getting video on youtube.

1. How many cameras do you use?
2. What cameras do you use?
3. How do you get sound without a lot of wind/background noise?
4. How do you match the sound and video from multiple cameras?
5. What post production software do you use?
6. What else do I need to know?

1. Shot with one camera
2. Canon sx60HS Powershot
3. I glued a foam dome over the dual mic built into the top of the camera.
4. Matching sound tracks is done within the editing software.
5. iMovie on an iMac
6. Just start shooting and learning how to use the editing software.
I'm entirely self taught but have learned much from watching other peoples video.
There is no substitute for time behind the camera and the computer...
If you are like me you learn the most by doing.
Don't be surprised if your boys already know how to work video since they are teaching this stuff in school now.

How do you mount the powershot on you

with a bungee cord.. redneck style.. basically I make a three point harness with the camera strap and the bungee cord.

I’ve got two GoPros on usually. A 5 Black and a 7 Black. One mounted on me and the other mounted above/behind me with a jaws and loc-line.

I have been getting decent sound with the foam wind buffs I get on amazon.

I also use iMovie for now on my MacBook and it has been working fairly well. Looking to get some low budget editing program down the road.

One thing to know is to try and keep your batteries cool no matter what camera you use. I have an aluminum case for my GoPro mount and it has drastically extended the life of my batteries on the water. Also, stay recording if at all possible. You never know when some thing interesting is gonna appear.

I also use iMovie. Was trained in Final Cut Pro (the Hollyweird application) but IMovie is so easy to use, I simply use it. Sound editing can also be done in iMovie and can wipe background noise (to an acceptable extent for YouTube). The earlier generation GoPro's are fairly inexpensive and will shoot with anything out there. Other action cameras are fine as well - as long as waterproof capable. Small means it most likely will be with you when the action happens (kind of like the big gun vs small gun arguments for personal defense). Good luck!

Main thing is always have a camea recording!!!! Dont focus some much on the editing and camera gear use your cell phone if thats all you have, you will get better the more you shoot. One other thing is i dont have my gopros in cases. I use the shell so its not waterproof. I dont see a need to have the case on unless i doing underwater footage or plan on getting in the water.

I have the same idea, but a little different slant.

1. 2 cameras
2. A GoPro hero 7 black and a GoPro hero 4 silver
3. I use an external mic with a wind muff attached to my hat.
4. iMovie allows you to detach audio from a clip and use it anywhere.
5. iMovie mobile
6. Practice make perfect! You kinda learn by watching and criticizing your own content. It’s a lot of fun.
