Bad reading from new transducer

Bad reading from new transducer - 02/24/20 09:14 PM

I just installed a totalscan for my Lowrance hds 7 gen 3. The bottom of the lake is showing up as really wavy. Any idea how to fix this?

Mine looks like that when the boat is rocking side to side causing the transducer angle with the bottom to change. Were you setting still?

What makes you think the lake bottom is flat?

looks like a lake bottom to me.
maybe your old one had the bad reading?
if you are bobbing at all you will get that too, does not take much with as sensitive as sonar is now.

Fished Saturday and on the windless side of a bridge the bottom looked pretty smooth, on the windy side with chop up to white capping it looked like your screenshot.

I notice a definite difference in mine fishing up a cove vs. main lake. I also noticed the "bumpy" bottom and had to do a quick experiment to make sure it was in fact the waves on the boat. Today's depth finders are amazing!
