Power Pole Navigation Light - 10/29/19 02:34 PM

Just checking to see if anyone has the PP Navigation Light mounted to your power pole sold by Russell Marine If so do they work or give problems? I was thinking about getting one but seen a review where after about a year the light started blinking on an off I know that sometimes you just get a Lemon so wanted to see if other were having long term problems. Thanks!

I don't have poles so i'm curious. For y'all that have the anchor light on the pp. How do you stay legal if you power pole down

installed mine myself also so far so good. However I will say I just fished a tournament with 178 boats and the PP light was installed on many of the boats and some seemed dimmer that others

Older models had a lense that was sort of opaque and they seem dimmer. The newer ones are clear and really bright. I absolutely love mine. Easy to install. Obviously if you need to Anchor at night, you’d still need a regular stern light or just lower your port pole. I plasti dipped mine blue to match my poles.

Yes. Love mine. Have it set up to where if it fails I can still use my pole light. It has never failed and doesn’t get in the way.

I don't do alot of night fishing, but guessing your not keeping your poles down all night. I doubt you'd ever get a ticket for that though, But carry a flashlight to remain legal.

I have twin PP's with the light on the rig I purchased used. The Starboard light started flickering so I checked on it-the wires had pulled loose from the bulb. I ended up getting a new bulb-(had to purchase the whole kit frown ) and got it replaced. As mentioned previously the older lights were opaque and the newer ones are clear. They both work and my new light is clear so its brighter than the port side light. I really like having them. If absolutely needed I can still put the old aft light post up on my rear deck too.

GW would write a ticket for no anchor light in a heartbeat. Flashlight won't make you legal. Has to be a 360 degree light

I didn't know lights on power poles were a thing (not a boat owner). Had to watch a video to see what y'all are talking about. IMO these lights are NOT legal when the power pole is down. The light is pointed away from the back of the boat and not visible from the front of the boat (again when the power pole is in the down or anchored position).

It saddens me that I see so many comments here about "it'll get you a ticket" and none about "it'll get you run over".

Because if you are power poled down in 4ft of water in the back of a pocket. I doubt you would get run over. But it will get you a ticket

I’m saddened that a post about whether people like the PP light or not has saddened you.

I've ran this exact same PP light, I can tell you that I have had to replace it once because the LED went bad. I am running the most up to date version, and as of 1 month ago, I haven't experienced any other issues. If you do a quick search, you will find similar issues revolving around the life expectancy of this particular product.

Re: Power Pole Navigation Light - 11/19/19 04:08 PM

I installed mine myself about a year ago and installed the replacement bulb when the original went bad. (replacement was supplied by RMP at no charge to me) I'm extremely happy that I can just flip a switch and be legal without digging for the original pole light. As for the issue of being anchored at night, my original pole light still works and can be used in that scenario.
