Fishing on Pylon Question

Fishing on Pylon Question - 08/11/19 07:33 PM

We like to fish around highway pylons like this picture.

Would sure like to find a way to attach a hook or loop to the pylon so we can tie off to it. Any ideas on how to do this? A rope around it would slip back into the water.

A float on the end of the rope and a boat hook?

Buy a cheap hula hoop cut it, run your rope through it, put snap hook on end. Makes it much easier than trying to sling rope around piling.
As noted above, put some pool noodle on it to float it.
Good luck.

Two wraps around pylon will keep it where you set it

Tie a 1/4" rope around the neck of a quart size Gatorade bottle that's filled with water and capped. Approach the column and swing the Gatorade bottle wide and fast around one side of the column. Leave enough free line out so that the bottle can swing all the way around the column. Sounds tricky, but you can learn how to do it. With a little practice, you'll have that bottle landing inside your boat.

We have been using hula hoops for years to tie to pylons to crappie fish
