Fish kill Granbury?

Fish kill Granbury? - 03/14/18 08:20 PM

We live on Lake Granbury close to the dam, in a cove and have noticed a lot of dead fish floating the last couple of days, ranging from small shad to larger fish up to a pound and a half. So far we have counted 10 dead in our Cove in the last two days. Anybody else experiencing this or know anything?

I hope it means nothing. But just in case this is on Texas Parks and Wildlife website:

The public is asked to report dead or dying fish and wildlife as soon as possible to TPWD's 24-hour communications centers at 512-389-4848 (Austin) or 281-842-8100 (LaPorte).

Just got off the phone with them and they said it needs to be 20 to 30 fish or more in one day for them to consider it an issue. She said because of the shift in the temperatures recently that is what’s causing the fish to die, which is normal. FYI, just thought I would pass that along.

I just came back from my local pond and found about 15 dead fish. Mainly small sunfish. There were a few 1.5lb bass and even a 10lb koi.

I noticed (80-100) of shad and brim down from the dam on the NW side of the first dogleg sunday.
