Hook and Line companies

Just wondering what everyone uses, feel free to put and input on your favorite hook companies and styles, plus what lines everyone is using, wether it be braid, mono, Co polymer or Flouro. Personally I like Gamakatsu and Owner for hooks and PowerPro, Seaguar for lines. As far as mono does anyone use Stren?

You named all the line companies that I prefer Stren, PowerPro, Seaguar. For mono applications Stren purple box line has been my choice for 20 plus years. I have tried other monofilaments and copoly lines over the years, but I have always come back to original stren. It's inexpensive, cast great, tough, and flat out works.

One hook not mentioned I have in my box is the SK hack attack hooks for flipping creature baits. Otherwise I primarily use owner.

btw-Stren is my go to mono as well...flip with Power Pro, others with Seaguar or Sunline

here are some other options:

1. Trilene Big Game - a little memory problem, but cheap and you can't break it.

2. Trilene Easy Cast - best casting mono by far; not as tough as Big Game.

3. McCoys CoPoly - tough as nails; less stretch than mono; comes in green or fluorescent blue.

3. all Flourocarbon - I hate it; too much memory; breaks easily due to kinks; I only use if for leaders tied to braid.

4. all braids - tried several and they all seem to be good.

Owner for most all soft plastics, (matching size/style for each bait), Gamakatsu for a couple specialty hooks, when necessary VMC flippin' hooks. Line: using same mono for over 25 yrs., Maxima mono (green), toughest knot strength/ abrasion resistance, combined w/ small diameter; Power Pro braid; and the very best fluorocarbon I've tested for break strength/ knots, w/small diameter, is Bass Pro Shop's brand, w/ Maxima flouro a close second.

I use braid mainline to different leaders for all applications (except for frog fishing and pitching/flipping in thick, heavy vegetation--straight braid)

Braid:
Regular power pro for Texas Rig, frog fishing, Carolina rig, Pitching/Flipping, big swimbaits, topwaters
Power Pro super slick for crankbaits, jerkbaits, shaky head, drop shot

Copoly:
Pline CXX leaders (very buoyant) for Texas Rig, Carolina rig, pitching/flipping, crankbaits, single hook big swimbaits
Pline CX leaders (neutrally buoyant) for jerkbaits, shaky head, drop shot, shaky head/ned rig

Mono:
Big Game leaders for big treble hooked swimbaits

I just don't trust Fluoro--it requires too much baby sitting and retying, but I do have some Seaguar, which I like; just haven't used it in a while. If I was a tournament fisherman, I'd use it more.

Hooks:

Octopus hooks for drop shot, neko rig, wacky--Gamakatsu
Texas rig/pitching/flipping--Gmakatsu superline hooks
Carolina rig--Gamakatsu fine wire hooks

soft swimbait hooks--Owner with the centering pin
shaky head--Owner

treble hooks-Mustad KVD, Eagle Claw Fletcher Shryock, Owner, Gamakatsu, VMC

Wow, not sure if I've heard that one before. I highly prefer Fluoro to Mono for its abrasion resistance and much less stretch than Mono.
Plus you can walk off 20-30 yards of fluoro off your spool and stretch it out and it will eliminate the memory for a day or two.

I found that Fluoro tends to weaken and discolor over time. Is there any line treatment that you guys use for Fluoro?
