I need some help figuring out what size spinning reel to buy. I got a nice drop shot spinning rod that is 7' medium fast. What size spinning reel do I need? I see 4's and 6's and 8's but I don't know what that means. Thanks for the help.

I would agree with the 2500 size. I use 1500's (Shimano Symetre)but only because I like the handle better on the smaller reel. I bought them when I was primarily fishing for Spots over in Georgia.

+1 on the 2500. Gives you more flexibility if you need to convert the set up in a pinch for topwaters or small spinnerbaits/ small cranks.

This one.

In memory of my childhood friend Dan Sterling, who taught me at an early age how to catch bream with a hand-line, and who unknowingly hooked me on fishing for life.
