I have been just babbling in carp fishing in the local lakes around the Mineola area. I have been using sweet corn on a hook and was wondering if there was any other easy to make dough baits that have worked for 10-20 lb carp. The excitement of the little ones is exhilarating and I want to try and nab some of the bigger ones.

I live in Mineola and would be glad to help you get into carping in the area. Let me know if interested. I am retired and can fish any day. By the way, welcome to the forum.

You tube is your friend , there are many variations but this 1s a simple one. use this as a guide . i usually just do 1 egg mixture for hook baits and have used yellow cornmeal and plain flour( 2 pars cornmeal to 1 flour ) as subsitute in a pinch , although it doesnt have the same texutre it will work .just start with the egg mixture then add a little at a time till i doesnt stick to your hands ,(softer is better than dryer when getting ready to roll // roll them smaller than you want cause they tend to expand while boiling .PS Most boiles say boi; 3 minutes but if you go tis route boile 8 minutes instead .let dry overnight and use after you decide you like catching you can get store bought one for convenience

heres a simple but very effective bait I was taught by some very kind elderly ladies fishing a crappie house I met one day. I ve been using it for many years now. take that stale bread from your pantry (hot dog an hamburger buns ect) and tear each slice into little pieces and put them back in the bag or another. dosent have to be a whole loaf. half a loaf makes a lot of bait. then get a big red soda and pour a small amount on the torn pieces. use ur hands smush it all together keep working it until it starts to become more like dough and not flaky like bread. add a little more big red as needed. form it into one large ball. the whole thing should be a pinkish red color. then when ur ready to fish just tear a quarter sized piece out of the main ball and roll it on ur treble hook. long post but very easy to make I assure u. and the carp and catfish love the heck out of it. good luck
