Something as small as a ziptie can save you some money.

I used to use a zip tie but found it harder to break than what I thought and moved on to light test mono. Maybe it (zip tie) would break better with a quick jerk rather than a steady pull? I've read others tie a knot in the anchor line to "ram" the zip tie to help with the breaking. At least with mono, I have a whole reel full of spare ties.

I use a small Zip tie and tie a knot just below the zip tie and it works best with a quick jerk when it's time to break the tie. I also occasionally soak my anchor line over night in a bucket of water and a cup of fabric softener, this makes the anchor line much more manageable, much easier to untangle and a lot less knots etc. I also use a solid braid nylon rope for my anchor line.

I use a smaller thickness ziptie and a quick jerk breaks it. I have not up to this point laundered my anchor rope. I use the Sidewinder and haven't had any issues with knots etc since.

Thanks for sharing Chris! The zip tie is a "must" unless you want to donate your anchor. I use the small ones and to date all have broken. I have had one anchor rope get hung in a submerged tree and I had to cut the rope. The zip tie would not have helped there as the rope itself was hung in a tree. The SideWinder is a great addition to my anchor system as (like Chris stated) it keeps the rope from getting tangled and keeps it out of the cockpit which is really important when you are fly fishing.

I may have to try a Sidewinder to help with line management. If I ever fall out of a airplane I hope I have a 50' anchor line or extension cord with me, I know it will get tangled on something and I'll never hit the ground!

Good stuff, I subscribed to your channel. Looking forward to more videos from you Thanks! More stuff coming. They'll all be short and to the point. I'll leave the adventure stuff to Mike and Robert etc. I'm no film maker by any means.

I use a braided Dyneema line for my anchor-small diameter, light weight, it floats and it doesn't stretch. A couple of hard jerks and it breaks the zip tie everytime.
