I know they are called by a lot of names, but does anybody have any experience with dive planers, trolling planers, etc? I've always been spoiled by having a pair of downriggers, but my new boat currently does not have that luxury. Anybody have a brand they would recommend?

Once you've trolled with downriggers, you won't be happy with a planer...

We have used those in the past
We just use the hellbender-pet spoon if trolling

Hooking a fish is like playing string with a cat. The exact size, shape, color of string matters less than how you wiggle it- and little cats are easier to fool than big ones. John Gierach

I have used pink ladies in the past. They work pretty good. Hellbender and pet spoon set up works well also. Have used DD 22's also.

I've checked around locally today and Academy had a couple of 20' jet divers. I'm going to give them a shot. I have low expectations after having downriggers, but I'm just looking for a temporary solution. They only had 20' and 10' in stock. It looks like I have some searching to do online tonight for something that runs deeper.
